Each city can specialize in one or more big businesses. The player becomes not only a mayor but also a business mogul.

*Big businesses are pre-determined by Maxis.

There are five big businesses in the game: mining, drilling, electronics, trade, and gambling. Each of the big businesses has its own global leaderboard.

*The player's rank on the leaderboard is determined by the amount of profit from that business in the past 12 months.
Mining
: Main article: Mining
Each city Cities specialized in mining extract ore and coal for profit. To extract the minerals, Coal and Ore Mines must be constructed directly above the corresponding deposits. Extracted ore and coal can specialize in one or be exported to the Global Market for immediate profit. Coal Power Plants burn coal to generate electricity. A Smelting Factory can be constructed to process ore and coal into more valuable resources: alloy and big businessesmetal.
The player becomes not only a mayor but also a business mogul.==Drilling==:Main article: Drilling
There are five big businesses Cities specialized in the game: metalsDrilling extract and process oil for profit. To extract oil, petroleumOil Well, must be constructed above oil reservoirs. Extracted oil can be exported to the Global Market for immediate profit. Oil Power Plants burn oil to generate electricity. electronicsOil Refinery, can be constructed to process oil into more valuable resources: tradefuel, and gamblingplastic.
*Each big business has its own ==Electronics==: Main article: leaderboardElectronics.
*The player's rank is determined by Cities specialized in electronics manufacture processors, TV and computer from alloy and plastic. Processors, TV and computer can be exported to the amount of Global Market for profit or used to construct various Great Works. Alloy and plastic can be manufactured from that business in the past 12 monthsmining and drilling industries or imported from Global Market. Electronic city employs a large educated workforce.
==MetalsTrading==:Main article: Trading
Metals require Cities specialized in trading buy and sell commodities on the Global Market to generate profit. The key to successful trading is importing resources when their prices are low and exporting them when their prices are high. A Trade Depot must be extracted from constructed before the ground player can start trading. A trade port can be constructed to accelerate the trading processes. A city specialized in trading will have many trucks and processed cargo ships moving goods into more valuable resourcesand out of the city.
*Make sure ==Gambling==: Main article: GamblingA gambling city relies on casinos to inspect the region to find where the coal, ore, attract tourists and oil deposits are before you claim your citygenerate revenue.
As *Gambling specialization focuses on attracting tourists instead of the player advance his gathering resources or her Metals business, the player can dig up larger quantities of coal and oremanufacturing goods.
*More money can be made if Gambling city requires the player builds a smelting plant construction of an adequate mass transit system to convert bring in tourists and avoid traffic congestion. Casinos attract criminals. A large police force is needed to combat the minerals into metals and alloyincrease in crime.
=Other Specializations=Petroleum==Education==Petroleum requires to be extracted :Main article: EducationHigh tech industries, services and structures require educated citizens as workers. Sims from the ground and processed into more valuable resourcesone city can attend schools in nearby cities.
A refinery can be built to convert petroleum into ==Culture==:Main article: fuelCulture Culture specialization focuses on attracting and plastickeeping tourists.
==Electronics==Electronics *It is similar to Gambling specialization and can be manufactured from metal, alloys and plasticpaired with it.
The player create microprocessorsThere are 2 types of culture buildings, TVsStandards and Landmarks. Landmarks are further divided into two additional types, Venues and computers from basic resourcesAttracters.
Electronics manufacturing has high profit margin but requires substantial investment *Only 3 Landmarks can be built in education and transportation infrastructurea city.
==TradePower==Trade is about buying and selling resources on the A power city constructs power plants to generate power for not only itself but also neighboring cities.
*Buy low, sell high Revenue is the main principlegenerated from selling power to nearby cities.
The key to trade is ==Garbage==A garbage city also known as recycling city takes waste from other cities in the region for a fee and recyles the wastse to import resources when their prices are low regenerate plastic, metal and export resources when their prices are highalloy.
A city specialized in trade will have many trucks, freight trains, and cargo ships moving goods into and out of the city==References==Specializing SimCity
